Types of Universal Black Masterbatch
Standard masterbatch
Standard masterbatches play a fundamental role in plastic processing by providing a broad spectrum of colors without additional functionalities. Their adaptability makes them a preferred option for a broad spectrum of applications where fundamental coloration is the primary necessity.
UVstabilizer masterbatch
UV stabilizer masterbatches serve a crucial function in protecting plastics from the detrimental effects of ultraviolet radiation. By incorporating uv-resistant additives, these masterbatches prevent color fading and material degradation caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight, making them particularly suitable for outdoor applications.
Anti-static masterbatch
Anti-static masterbatches are formulated to address the issue of static electricity buildup on the surface of plastic products. By incorporating additives that enhance electrical conductivity, these masterbatches help mitigate problems such as dust attraction and ensure a static-free surface on the end products.
Flame retardant masterbatch
A flame retardant masterbatch is a material that incorporates flame retardant agents. Various flame retardant ingredients are pre-blended with the base polymers and subsequently fed into a twin-screw extruder or triple-screw extruder for thorough mixing, extrusion, and pellet formation. Adding flame retardant directly into the polymer is simpler, cleaner, more efficient, and involves less usage, resulting in minimal impact on the mechanical performance of the polymer compared to traditional flame retardant agents. This makes it a highly preferred flame retardant product widely applied in the plastics and rubber industries.
Anti-oxidation masterbatch
Anti-oxidation masterbatches provide protection against oxidation and degradation caused by exposure to oxygen. Through the incorporation of additives that inhibit the harmful effects of oxygen, these masterbatches contribute to extending the lifespan and maintaining the quality of plastic products.
Pearlescent masterbatch
Pearlescent masterbatches add an aesthetic dimension to plastic products by imparting a pearlescent or metallic sheen. Special pigments within these masterbatches create an iridescent effect, making them suitable for applications where visual appeal is a key consideration, such as in packaging, cosmetics, and consumer goods.
Glow-in-the-dark masterbatch
Glow-in-the-dark masterbatches introduce an element of visibility in low-light conditions by enabling plastic products to glow after exposure to light. By incorporating phosphorescent pigments, these masterbatches find application in safety signage and novelty items, where enhanced visibility in the dark is essential.
Application of Universal Black Masterbatch
Automotive compounding
As you may not know, automotive is the largest end-use industry for black masterbatches market. Since plastic has gradually come into use in the automotive industry with a view to decreasing overall weight and cutting down on production cost, the demand for black masterbatch is growing rapidly.
Packaging flms
Another common application of black-color masterbatch is packaging films (such as garbage bags, shopping bag...) thanks to the granular form, it disperses more evenly on the end-products surface. Moreover, manufacturers can easily adjust the formula along with loading rate to make it suit the end-products best.
Pipes and conduits
Pipes, tubing, fencing, deck railing... Are amongst the most common extruded applications of black masterbatches. Not only offers end-products attractive
Looks, it also assists in creating a protective layer, which prevents chemicals from deteriorating end-products' surface as well as enhancing their impact strength and wear resistance.
Geomembrane industry
The geomembrane industry has traditionally used pre-coloured compounds but more and more geomembrane manufacturers are adding masterbatches to the virgin resin. The role of the masterbatch and carbon black is to provide optimum uv and thermal protection of the membrane. As carbon black is one the most effective and most widely used light stabilizer for plastic materials, it is commonly embedded into masterbatch to improve the uv resistance ability of geomembrane.
Recycled black masterbatch for various applications
With a view to delivering cost effectiveness, a new line of black masterbatches that contain 100% recycled content has been introduced. It is said to be made of 100% recycled carbon black from post-consumer tires and polyethylene (pe) resin from a recycled stream, thus helping manufacturers save costs as well as achieving the same performance as many standard grades of carbon black.
Polyfillblack masterbatch
Having entered the plastic raw material market for nearly 5 years, polyfill takes pride in providing manufacturers top-quality color masterbatch. In which, black masterbatches are one of our best sellers. Thanks to the perfect combination of carbon black, virgin resin and specific additives, polyfill black masterbatch.
Process of Universal Black Masterbatch
Production process of double rotor continuous mixer
The production process is to first weigh carbon black, resin and other additives according to the formula, then add the components to a high-speed mixer and mix at normal temperature for 10 min, and add it to the double-rotor continuous mixing. The temperature of the mixing section is 160°, and the continuous mixing of the object is discharged from the discharge door to the downstream single screw, and is extruded into a strip shape through the die. Then the strips, the sink is cooled, cut into granules, which is the masterbatch. The shearing and mixing force of the process materials is large, and the color masterbatch dispersing effect produced by the mixing is relatively good, but the production process is large, the process is relatively large, the energy consumption is large, and the cost is high.
Closed processing process
In this process, the carrier resin, the additive and the carbon black are directly added to the internal mixer, and the mixed material is extruded through a screw to produce a universal black masterbatch. The universal black masterbatch produced by the company has superior performance and good dispersibility, and is generally used for producing high-grade plastic color masterbatch and chemical fiber masterbatch. The price of the masterbatch produced by it is relatively high.
Twin screw production process
The process consists of pre-mixing the carrier resin, additives and carbon black through a high-speed mixer and granulating through twin-screw extrusion to produce universal black masterbatch. This process is simple, and the co-rotating twin-screw extruder can also provide a relatively high shear force for the material. If a reasonable formula design and process adjustment are made, high-quality masterbatch can be produced.
How to Choose a Universal Black Masterbatch

Colour consistency
Color is so important and here masterbatch plays a major role to give color to the plastic product. Not only color when it comes to masterbatch, shades, and color consistency play a very important role.
High heat stability
Industries like electronics, automotive needs plastic which must have these high heat stability features, that's why masterbatch in plastic must have high heat sustainability so that neither during production there are issues of degradation nor the aesthetic look of the product varies from one lot to other post production.
High light fastness
Like colour consistency and high heat stability, high light fastness is also the main feature of the masterbatch, because this is something which directly leads to the quality of the final product. This is one of the main concerns that need to be properly taken into consideration while choosing a color for plastic. Many fail when it comes to color fading issues once the product is exposed to sun light.
Low moisture content
The moisture content in the masterbatch granules has a great influence on the quality of the final product. In case of high moisture content, the production becomes impossible. Because of this, it is always important to keep eye on the moisture content of the masterbatch to keep expected product quality.Experts of perfect colourants, always take care of this and make sure moisture content must be as low as 0.05%.
Nil migration
No one likes migration; let it be the clothes, country or plastics. Poor quality of pigments used while making masterbatch allows pigment to migrate on the surface resulting into quality rejections. As a company policy, our expert team mandatorily study and uses pigments which are suitable for the application to guarantee nil migration.
High production output
Low pressure built up on the die : Sustainability of any machine is dependent on how it is put to use over the years. Poor quality of masterbatches is responsible for carbon deposition on the screw, barrel and die. This leads to pinholes in the films, low output and wear and tear of the machines in the longer run.
Timely deliveries
In the case of masterbatch, it is always important to deliver the product on time and sometimes even just in time. It is not that easy because it includes factors like small runs, precise colour matching, huge range of pigment inventory, coordination with logistics, swift and low cost transportation to the final location, and eventually safe delivery.
What Are the Trends and Development Directions of Universal Black Masterbatch in the Market
With Universal black masterbatch, manufacturers can simplify their inventory management significantly.
